Firestop systems are a passive fire protection method used to increase fire-resistance, thereby reducing the ability for fire to spread throughout the building. The firestop materials, when applied, are used to seal openings and joints in fire-resistance rated walls, ceilings, or floor assemblies.
Urecoat is providing AD Fire Protection Systems and Hilti firestop products for commercial, institutional, and industrial applications.
Approved Firestop Products
The firestop products that Urecoat supplies and installs are approved by the National Fire Protection Association, ASTM International, and Underwriters Laboratories of Canada.
They can be used to seal off the following penetrations in fire-rated walls, ceilings, or floors:
- Other service/utility items
The fire stop system is made up on three components: the fire-rated walls being penetrated; cables or conduits making up the object creating the penetration; and the materials and methods used to seal the penetrations. When heat from a fire reaches the firestop materials they expand and seal to prevent further spreading of fire or smoke from one building or area to another.
